#CoronavirusFS: #Senekal SAPS closed amidst high police alert─── LEATILE LEIEE 11:09 Fri, 09 Oct 2020
The police station in Senekal is closed amidst a heavy police presence at the Local Magistrate's Court.
A 52-year-old suspect is appearing in court today in connection with the torching of a police van and damage to the inside of a courtroom. The case followed protest action earlier this week at court when two suspects appeared in connection with the brutal murder of the 21-year-old farm manager, Brendin Horner, at Paul Roux near Bethlehem.
Provincial police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele says members who were affected by the virus have undergone the necessary Covid-19 related protocols and the station will undergo decontamination processes.
The OFM News team is on the ground and says that some of the streets around the court precinct have been cordoned off, including Van Riebeeck and Landdros Street. Curious bystanders are gathered in their numbers on street corners, hoping to catch a glimpse of the activities.
