It's all systems go for NC Education─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 11:00 Sat, 10 Oct 2020
Preparations for matric exams are well underway in the Northern Cape.
This is according to the Basic Education Department.
Following the department’s Director-General Mathanzima Mweli’s visit to the province on Saturday, the department has confirmed preparations for exams in the province are running smoothly.
Addressing learners and teachers at Pampierstad High School, Mweli says they are pleased with how the province has been holding weekend classes, and going the extra mile to ensure that teaching and learning take place amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mweli has further applauded the province for precautionary measures placed in schools to curb the spread of the coronavirus. His statement comes less than a month before candidates for this year’s National Senior Certificate (NSC) sit for examinations.
Following the declaration of the National Disaster Management Act by President Cyril Ramaphosa back in March, the department had to reschedule all exams to accommodate the disruptions caused by the pandemic. Exams for matric learners countrywide will now kick off on November 5 to December 15.
