The body of a missing four-year-old Warrenton boy has been found.
Police spokesperson in the Northern Cape, Mohale Ramatseba, says the body of the four-year-old was found at the house of a 36-year-old man inside a box covered with a blanket.
He says the boy had been reported missing by his family after he went to a local tuckshop on Friday, October 9 and never returned home.
Ramatseba says the boy’s body was later that night found at the suspect's house in Ikhutseng in Warrenton following an intensive search by the police.
The 36-year-old man is expected to appear before the Local Magistrate’s Court on Monday after he was arrested in connection with the murder of the four-year-old boy.
This incident comes amidst growing concerns over the safety of women and children in the country with many having called on the judiciary system and President Cyril Ramaphosa to do more to protect the most vulnerable members of society.
Meanwhile, acting Police Commissioner in the Northern Cape, Phiwe Mnguni, has condemned the murder of the boy and warned that no stone will be left unturned in the fight against crime in the province.
