Saul applauses traditional leadership─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:09 Mon, 12 Oct 2020
Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul has reiterated the importance of traditional leadership in a democratic country.
In expressing his condolences to the Jantjie ll family - following the death of Kgosi Emmanuel Jantjie ll - Saul said the traditional leaders and the role they play in their communities is of high importance.
Saul says the passing of Kgosi Jantjie, who was 72 years old and ruled his people since the age of 24, is a great loss - not only to the people of Batlhaping Ba-ga Jantjie - but to the province in general.
Saul, in a statement, says Kgosi Jantjie ll led his community with diligence and played a critical role in its development throughout the years.
"He was well versed in matters of traditional affairs and served his people with distinction. He also served the council of traditional leadership at various levels during his life and was the Deputy Chairperson of the John Taolo Gaetsewe Local House of Traditional Leaders, as well as a member of the Provincial House at the time of his death," he said.
He is expected to be laid to rest at his homestead of Magwagwe Village on Thursday, October 15.
