NC man in the dock over boy's death─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:23 Mon, 12 Oct 2020
A Northern Cape man accused of killing a 4-year-old boy, whose body was found in a box covered with a blanket at his house, is expected to appear in court on Monday.
The 36-year-old suspect was arrested at Ikhutseng in Warrenton over the weekend by the police.
OFM News previously reported that the boy had been reported missing by his family after he went to a local tuckshop on Friday and never returned.
Police spokesperson in the Northern Cape, Mohale Ramatseba, says the boy’s body was found later that night at the suspect's house in Ikhutseng, following an intensive search by the police.
Acting Police Commissioner in the Northern Cape, Phiwe Mnguni, condemned the murder and warned no criminal activity will be tolerated in the province.
This incident comes amidst growing concerns over the lack of safety for women and children in the country, with many continuing to call on the judiciary system and President Cyril Ramaphosa to do more to protect women and children.
