The police in the Northern Cape have sent a stern warning against any form of women and children abuse.
Police spokesperson, Dimakatso Mooi, says that they will leave no stone unturned in the fight against abuse and that no criminal activity will be tolerated in the province.
This, after the Kimberley Sexual Offences Court sentenced 20-year-old Richard Senelo to 10 years' imprisonment for raping a 17-year-old girl.
She says Senelo was found guilty following the incident which occured on May 26, 2018 - when he accosted the victim while she was on her way to her boyfriend.
Mooi says the victim managed to escape and the matter was reported to the police.
The accused was later on the same day found still asleep and arrested.
The Galeshewe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit Commander, Marli Strydom, applauded Investigating officers involved in the case for a sterling investigation which secured a conviction and further warned communities against criminal activities.
