This, following recent events that unfolded in Senekal. John Mathule, a pastor at the event, said simmering racial tensions should not be allowed to divide the beautiful Senekal region.

He tells OFM News the court case of the killing of Brendin Horner has left the small town bruised and emotionally battered. Mathule emphasised that they are praying for calm during this storm.

A pastor who attended the event, says in the last week they have seen things "in terms of police presence, and heard and read things in the newspapers which raised one’s hairs. Just as water does not have a skin colour or address, in the same manner does crime not have a skin colour or address".

This follows after the two suspected murderers, Sekwetje Mahlamba (32) and Sekola Matlaletsa (44), appeared in court in Senekal for the first time last Tuesday after being nabbed the previous Saturday for the killing of Horner the week before at Paul Roux near Bethlehem. This instigated protests.

The mass prayer meeting also focused on the abuse of women, children, and farm killings in the communities.
