Police Minister Bheki Cele maintains there will be a tight security and high police visibility when Brendin Horner's murder suspects appear in court.

Horner's body was found tied to a pole in an open space situated at De Rots farm in Paul Roux in the Free State on October 1.

Sekwetje Isaiah Mahlamba (32) and Sekola Piet Matlaletsa (44) stand accused of this violent crime. They are today expected to make a formal bail application.

This, after their first court appearance in the Senekal Magistrate's Court was disrupted by protesters. The group of protestors last week damaged court property, fired gun shots and torched a police vehicle.

They were demanding that the pair be handed over to them. The Senekal protest has since sparked racial tension and outrage countrywide, with many stating that it was an attack on the state.

Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and AfriForum have vowed to gather outside the court.

EFF leader Julius Malema has called for a mass gathering, alleging that police officers failed to attend to the protest in protection of the white minority.

He declared that his party will on Friday paint the province red to highlight this.

Meanwhile, the Police Minister's spokesperson, Lirandzu Themba, says Cele and state Security Minister, Ayanda Dlodlo, will be in attendance of today’s court proceedings, and assures the public that police officials are ready for any eventually.

Their visit comes two days after they met with the family of Brendin Horner and later had a meeting with farming communities where they called for peace and calm.
