Three nabbed for drugs in Central SA─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:18 Mon, 19 Oct 2020
Three suspected drug dealers have been arrested in Central South Africa this past weekend.
Two were arrested in Rustenburg in the North West after the police discovered a suspected drug laboratory, while another suspect was arrested in possession of drugs in Kimberley in the Northern Cape.
Spokesperson for the police in North West, Sabata Mokgwabone, says a crime intelligence driven operation led to the discovery of an alleged drug laboratory and the arrest of two male suspects aged 33 and 34.
He says during the police's search operation, items that are apparently used to manufacture drugs - including several 20 litre containers of chemicals, hand gloves and dust masks - were found.
"A further search resulted in finding and seizing a plastic bag containing 3kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of R1.5 million, ten cell phones and a substantial amount of cash," said Mokgwabone.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrates' Court today, for contravention of Section 3 of the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act.
Meanwhile, police spokesperson in the Northern Cape, Olebogeng Tawana, has confirmed a 40-year-old suspect was arrested in possession of dagga, Crystal meth, and Cat and is expected to appear before the Galeshewe Magistrate's Court on Monday, on a count of dealing in drugs.
She says the suspect was arrested last week Friday with a suitcase full of these drugs in Galeshewe, Kimberley.
