The provincial spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, tells OFM News that the accused was arrested for allegedly failing to follow processes in awarding of tenders worth approximately R5 million.

Rikhotso says the arrest stems from investigations that were conducted in 2018 - 2019 by the Serious Organised Crime Division against the former manager.

Meanwhile, in 2019 the municipal administrator attributed the municipality’s troubles to non-compliance with supply chain management prescripts, non-expenditure of the Municipal Infrastructure Grant, and escalating unauthorised, irregular, and fruitless expenditure, amongst other issues.

This is a developing story
