Goedemoed murder trial postponed─── LUCKY NKUYANE 17:27 Mon, 19 Oct 2020
The murder trial of a Goedemoed correctional officer in the Bloemfontein High Court has been postponed to November.
It is alleged that Mojale Letele is the mastermind behind the murder of his colleague, Nomsa Stuurman, in March 2019.
The trial, where the convicted murderer and rapist Jongikhaya Samsam is giving damming testimony against Letele, will continue on 2 until 6 November for the continuation of cross-examination of Samsam.
Samsam - who brutally killed Stuurman and also raped her colleague - made damming allegations against Letele on Thursday, 15 October. He told Judge Pitso Molitsoane that Letele strategically placed the murder weapon for him to kill Stuurman.
He implicated Letele and said he was promised R100 000, a pair of sneakers and favours to make his life easier - in case he was arrested for the murder. Meanwhile, the state is expected to call a key witness.
Samsam had alleged that Letele, who is out on R10 000 bail, signalled to him by nodding where he had placed the murder weapon to carry out the heinous crime against slain Stuurman.
It is alleged that one of the inmates - only known as Thabo, who is the state witness - saw the hammer and took it to a drawer of a steel cabinet in a nearby office.
Meanwhile, Advocate Kenny Pretorius has accused Samsam of lying.
