ANC vows to address corruption concerns in FS─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:51 Tue, 20 Oct 2020
The ANC maintains it will soon attend to concerns raised by its members in the Free State.
This, after a group of ANC members in the province as well as intended beneficiaries of the controversial Estina Dairy Project and multi-million asbestos housing deal marched to the party's headquarters in Johannesburg yesterday.
The group demanded that the party takes action against corruption and hold those implicated in state capture accountable.
OFM News earlier reported that their march came just weeks after several government officials, including one of the beneficiaries of the asbestos deal - Edwin Sodi - were arrested and granted bail ranging between R50 000 and R500 000 in connection with the R255 million asbestos removal deal.
Whilst the Hawks have vowed to make more arrests before Sodi and his six co-accused are due to appear in court on November 11, calls are mounting for the party to self-correct and take action against its members who are implicated in these corruption cases.
During their march outside Luthuli House, members of the ANC in the Free State submitted their memorandum of demands to the party's national working committee.
Spokesperson, Pule Mabe, has meanwhile assured them that the party will soon respond to their concerns.
The two multi-million rand projects are considered among the worst state capture cases - where high-ranking politicians and government officials have not been held accountable and millions still remaining unaccounted for.
