Hawks spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi says the Aldos bus was transporting the suspect, a 30-year-old male, who was allegedly in possession of Mandrax tablets.

It is alleged that the investigative team received a tip-off regarding drugs being transported on the bus. The team then proceeded to intercept the bus en route to its destination and nabbed the suspect at around 05:00. The male was allegedly in possession of Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R221 700.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Upington Magistrate's Court on Wednesday 21 October 2020 on drug dealing charges.

OFM News previously reported that police in Upington intercepted a drug parcel transported from Gauteng at an estimated street value of R287 000.

The suspects at the time used a courier service to transport the drugs. The courier service became suspicious of the parcel and informed the police of the incoming trade.
