Farmers are hard at work trying to stop veld fires in the farming area of Mellidora outside Ottosdal, in North West, where heavy smoke is engulfing the road between Ottosdal and Hartbeesfontein.
OFM News' Joba Matsheng reports from the scene that more than ten vehicles transporting jojo tanks, and three other water trucks, are hard at work. While the cause or extent of the fire is not yet clear, it spans at least 3 to 4 km.
Strong winds are not making it easy for the farmers and others battling the blaze, as they have been attempting to stop the blaze since 12:00 on Wednesday afternoon.
