This follows after the 43-year-old suspect allegedly took a R500 bribe from a tavern liquor license applicant.

Hawks spokesperson in the province, Nomthandazo Mnisi, says the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation unit arrested the suspect on Thursday for alleged corruption.

She says the suspect, who works for the Northern Cape Liquor Board, demanded a bribe from the complainant.

This led to the Hawks' sting operation whereby the suspect accepted a R500 from the complainant – he was arrested immediately.

The 43-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court today.
