Former NW official due in court again─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:41 Fri, 23 Oct 2020
The former Ratlou Local Municipal Manager in North West will attempt to be released on bail in the Atamelang Magistrate's Court on Friday for the third time this week.
Cassius Sebatane Sejake was arrested on Monday by the Hawks for tender irregularities by allegedly transgressing the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).
He allegedly awarded four tenders worth R5 million in the 2018/19 financial year. On Monday he was remanded in custody and on Tuesday technical glitches forced delays in his formal bail hearing.
OFM News previously reported that Sejake was arrested for allegedly failing to follow due processes in the awarding of the tenders.
It's alleged that when Sejake was an acting Municipal Manager (MM) he failed to take reasonable steps to ensure that public procurement processes were followed and observed.
He thus contravened the MFMA Act, which speaks to fruitless and wasteful expenditure.
