NC ready for #MatricExams─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 08:23 Sun, 25 Oct 2020
All preparations are well in place and it is all systems go for matric exams in the Northern Cape.
This is according to the Department of Basic Education.
Addressing teachers and learners at various schools in the province, the department’s Director-General, Mathanzima Mweli, said he is pleased with how the province has been hard at work ensuring that teaching and learning take place despite challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
His visit to schools in the Namakwa District on Friday, came just days after he visited schools in the Frances Baard and John Taolo Gaetsewe districs.
Mweli has applauded the province for precautionary measures placed in schools to curb the spread of the virus. He also applauded the efforts that have been taken to ensure that there are weekend classes to bring learners up to speed with the curriculum they missed due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
Exams for matric learners countrywide will kick-off on November 5 to December 15. This past week all matrics wrote their compulsory subject Life Orientation, and did their CAT and IT practicals.
With less than 10 days to go, Mweli has encouraged learners and teachers in the province to work harder to remain amongst the top-performing provinces.
