With ten days to the 2020 matric exams, the Free State Department of Education has confirmed it is all systems go in the province.

Over 29 300 Grade 12 learners across the province will sit for this year’s National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams.

Education MEC, Tate Makgoe, has confirmed he is confident the province will remain a top-performing province.

He, on Friday, led a pledge signing ceremony at the St Bernard Secondary School, where hundreds of learners signed a pledge committing themselves to abide by the examination regulations.

Whilst the province and the country at large have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Makgoe has expressed his confidence in how teachers and learners in the province have been going an extra mile to ensure that teaching and learning continues - and that they are all geared for the upcoming exams.

OFM News has meanwhile reported on how the Basic Education Department has also expressed confidence in the performance of Northern Cape schools amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, and how they have put in place measures to ensure that the class of 2020 is ready for the exams.

Visiting schools in the Namakwa district this past Friday, the department’s Director-General, Mathanzima Mweli, said he is confident the province will produce great results.

He further applauded the province and many others for precautionary measures they placed in schools to curb the spread of the coronavirus ahead of the exams.
