Eskom confirms storms in the areas have led to the collapse of two towers at the Everest-Welkom Bulk feeder. Spokesperson, Stefanie Jansen van Rensburg, says large parts of Welkom have been without electricity since last night and are attending to the problem. She, however, says they are unsure as to when power supply will be restored in the City.

"Due to the extent of the damage, it is expected that the outage will last for an extended period," said Jansen van Rensburg.

She, in a statement, adds the power utility apologises for the inconvenience and advises residents to treat all electrical installations as live and dangerous.
