The suspect, who is originally from Thembisa, Gauteng, was found with 20 cell tower batteries worth R140 000 in his minibus.

Police spokesperson, Sergio Kock, revealed that the 37-year-old suspect had three accomplices with him in the early hours of 27 October 2020, but they managed to flee the scene. Kock says the vehicle used was confiscated and will be used as evidence for the crime committed.

‘’The suspect should be appearing in the Barkley West Magistrate's Court soon. The Cluster Commander for Francis Baard commended the members from the Cluster Command task team, together with the Flying Squad and Barkley West police for a job well done’’.

Kock concluded saying the search for the remaining suspects will continue.
