The by-elections will take place in the Mangaung Metro Municipality as well as Dihlabeng Local Municipality.

IEC spokesperson in the province, Mmathabo Rasengane, confirms several voting stations will be opened this Saturday and Sunday to allow eligible voters to register, and for current voters to check their registration details.

The Electorate's Provincial Manager, Itumeleng Liba, further confirms all preparations are in place to ensure voter registration this weekend proceeds smoothly.

He says the upcoming by-elections will be held under strict Covid-19 protocols aimed at ensuring the safety of voters, election staff, party agents, observers and all those involved.

Both wards became vacant as a result of the death of their councillors.
