Free State Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Sipho Towa, tells OFM News a bakkie and a light motor vehicle collided on the N8/R719 Tweespruit crossing on Thursday.

Two children aged 10 and 4 were declared dead at the scene, whilst seven others, including a woman in critical condition, were transported to the Dr JS Moroka Hospital in nearby Thaba’ Nchu.

According to Towa, of those who were injured, one was critical, whilst the rest sustained moderate to slight injuries. The critical patient, however, succumbed to her injuries at the Thaba’ Nchu-based hospital.

Towa has expressed the Provincial Health Department’s “condolences to all families that lost their loved ones and wished all the injured a speedy recovery”.
