NC rocked by knife violence─── LEATILE LEIEE 06:00 Mon, 02 Nov 2020
Three suspects were arrested for allegedly stabbing their victims to death in separate incidents in the Northern Cape.
The alleged murders reportedly happed the last weekend of October. Police in the Northern Cape say that most murders stem from arguments exacerbated by alcohol abuse.
OFM News previously reported that Premier Zamani Saul expressed his concern when the provincial crime statistics for the 2019/20 financial year were released earlier this year.
Knives were singled out as the most common weapon used to commit murders in the province.
All the suspects are expected in court soon.
In Rietfontein, police are investigating a case of murder following the death of a 60-year-old man this past Friday.
It is alleged that the victim was stabbed by a 28-year-old suspect during an argument. He was declared dead on the scene.
In a separate incident, a 67-year-old man was arrested at Kanoneiland for stabbing his brother to death that same evening.
It is alleged the two brothers embroiled in an argument, which led to the suspect stabbing his 53-year-old brother.
In yet another incident, a 30-year-old man was arrested in Deben for the murder of a 40-year-old woman.
Again the incident seemed to stem from an argument. The victim was stabbed in the neck.
She died on the scene, after which the suspect was arrested.
