ANC NW claims unity─── LEATILE LEIEE 14:23 Mon, 02 Nov 2020
The African National Congress (ANC) denies that there is any rebellion against the President of the party, Cyril Ramaphosa, amidst talks of inconsistencies within the party.
Despite released statements and talks, IPC Coordinator, Hlumani Chauke, tells OFM News that the party stands fully behind the president. This comes after North-West University’s political analyst Professor André Duvenhage’s comments on the refusal of some ANC and Troika members - including mayors, speakers and chief whips in the North West - to step down.
‘’We are currently hard at work - busy with the elections campaign - and our main focus is the by-elections running in the province. We don’t believe that there will be any rebellion against the president, he has the popular support from the leadership and the general membership of the party’’.
In recent weeks there has also been analysis that some organisational rules are not being applied to some members. Chauke says the general population of the party believe that he is still the right man for the job and fulfil the mandate given by the council.
The alleged rift within the party means that some members feel others are regarded more important than some.
