Diamonds case in NW court─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:06 Thu, 05 Nov 2020
A Northern Cape man arrested in possession of uncut diamonds is expected to appear before the Christiana Magistrate's Court in North West on Friday.
The 25-year-old arrested in the North West is expected to appear before the court for a formal bail hearing after his case was postponed on Wednesday.
OFM News previously reported that he was arrested on Tuesday after the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team followed up on information that surfaced regarding suspects selling uncut diamonds in the province. The suspect was then arrested after a potential buyer bought an object amounting to R46 000 in Christiana in the North West.
The Hawks spokesperson in the Northern Cape, Nomthandazo Mnisi, told OFM News whilst the suspect is from the Northern Cape and arrested in the North West, they are yet to establish where the diamonds were taken from.
She says he is to face a charge linked to the illegal dealing in diamonds and investigations continue.
