A 34-year-old Northern Cape man is on Friday expected to appear before the Upington Magistrate's Court for the murder of an elderly woman.
Police spokesperson, Olebogeng Tawana, says the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, together with members of Upington Detectives, traced and arrested the suspect on Wednesday in Louisvaleweg informal settlement in Upington for the murder of Judith Redelinghuys.
The suspect stands accused of murdering Redelinghuys, whose body was found in her swimming pool with her hands tied behind her back.
Tawana says the woman's body was discovered on 30 June and the police have since been on a manhunt for the suspect.
She adds jewellery from the deceased was also reported missing.
"The ZF Mgcawu District Commissioner, Brigadier Johnny Besnaar, applauded the members for the excellent investigation and teamwork, which led to the meticulous arrest," she said in a statement.
