The department is expected to table its non-financial reports before the committee and account for their performance. Following presentations to be made by the Education and Health Departments, the MEC for Social Development, Mamiki Qabathe, will be expected to take to the stand and explain how her department has been meeting its obligations amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

Qabathe will also have to outline how the department has been responding to the needs of the elderly, the orphaned, and the disabled.

Following the announcement of the National Disaster Management Act due to Covid-19 by President Cyril Ramaphosa in March 2020, the Provincial Social Development cleared the homeless off from the streets of Bloemfontein and neighbouring towns and accommodated them in different shelters.

Qabathe will during her presentation be expected to detail how her department has been responding to the needs of the most vulnerable members of the society and the needy amidst the pandemic.
