ANCWL to attend #GBV-related case in court─── LEATILE LEIEE 13:08 Mon, 09 Nov 2020
The African National Congress Women’s League (ANCWL) is set to picket at the Lehurutshe Magistrate's Court on Tuesday where Andile Phiri will appear after he allegedly raped and left his partner for dead in the North West.
Phiri allegedly raped and repeatedly assaulted his 25-year-old girlfriend in acts that are described as brutal by the women’s league. Acting Provincial Secretary Bitsa Lenkopane says that women have long endured the horrible and dehumanising deeds at the hands of men and calls for the justice system to step in. Phiri will tomorrow learn the outcome of his bail application.
The women’s league will be joined by the local municipal leadership and they have indicated that they wish the perpetrator receives a maximum sentence.
‘’This continues to be a worsening pandemic, over time displacing and reducing them to small prey with almost no refuge," said Bitsa Lenkopane.
