The case against one of the suspects who stand accused of murdering 56-year-old Hennenman farmer, Pieter Hills, was postponed today in the Hennenman Magistrate’s Court.

The suspect, 36-year-old Tshidiso Patrick Bochedi, appeared briefly before the court on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and house robbery.

Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says the case was postponed to Monday 16 November, to allow for further investigation.

The suspect will remain in custody. Meanwhile, the second suspect is due to appear in court on Wednesday, whilst a third suspect was released after she could not be positively linked to the crime.

This came after Hennenman police initially arrested four suspects in Phomolong Township on Friday evening after the crime was reportedly committed the previous evening.

Makhele says one of the suspects, a 47-year-old man, was found dead in a police holding cell on Saturday - mere hours after he was arrested.

Makhele adds the trio, who are all in their thirties, will be facing charges of murder and house robbery after they allegedly fatally shot Hills in the head and stabbed his son Eddie in the chest.

Investigations continue and more arrests are imminent.

OFM News previously reported that the family’s domestic worker went in search of the victims after the deceased’s wife raised her concerns regarding her inability to get a hold of her family via telephone.

The 26-year-old was transported to a nearby hospital. It is believed between two and three handguns were stolen during the incident.
