John de Bruin said in an interview with OFM News that he was woken up by a friend in the early hours to alert him of the incident. He said he rushed to the scene and discovered that his son and two of his friends were at the house of what is believed to be a police officer.

De Bruin said his son was shot dead, one of his friends was wounded and a third one ran away. A resident of Heidedal, who spoke to OFM News, said it is alleged that the three were caught red-handed by the house owner.

The deceased was allegedly caught with a plasma screen television set in the house. When OFM News spoke to him hours after the incident, De Bruin said that he is unhappy because the police never came to his house to inform him officially of his son’s death.

Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, tells OFM News that the police in the area are still busy gathering information and will confirm the details of the incident as soon as possible.
