Nedbank beefs up security after robbery─── LUCKY NKUYANE 15:25 Tue, 10 Nov 2020
Security has been beefed up at the Nedbank branch in Welkom following a business robbery on Monday by four gun-wielding men.
Nedbank’s spokesperson, Kedibone Molopyane, confirms to OFM News that clients were robbed inside the branch while attempting to make deposits. She says following the incident, the bank decided to investigate but they are unable to confirm the modus operandi at this stage. Molopyane adds that she can’t confirm the amount of money stolen and further says no-one was injured during the incident. “We have since increased security in the area. We are still investigating. we don’t have certainty of how much was taken,” she further adds.
Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, previously told OFM News that the four assailants allegedly gained entrance through the dedicated door for business banking clients.
Makhele added that the four fled the scene in a new, black BMW with registration number DDY111FS. A manhunt for the suspects has been launched by police in the area. “Anyone with information should please call Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or contact the nearest police station.”
