Girl injured in dog attack─── 15:00 Tue, 10 Nov 2020
Concerns have been raised by Sebokeng residents in the Vaal, after a child was mauled by a pitbull on her way home from school.
The 7-year-old girl from Elite Primary School in Sebokeng, suffered multiple injuries - including a broken leg - from Monday's attack.
The owner of the dog arrived soon after the incident, and took the girl to the Sebokeng Regional hospital for treatment, where she was subsequently operated on. The dog's owner did not want to involve the police, however the community was calling for the dog to be put down, and later contacted the police.
When they arrived at the scene, the dog had already been taken home by the owner.
The woman who was walking with the child from school during the attack, told OFM News that it was a traumatic experience.
Meanwhile, at the start of the lockdown period, stray dogs at a nearby church attacked community members, including women and children.
The attacks happened when the church was closed. The victims of the stray dog attack were taken to Albertina Sisulu clinic for treatment.
