'Magashule must be brought to book'─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 05:18 Wed, 11 Nov 2020
Opposition parties maintain former Free State Premier and the current ANC Secretary-General, Ace Magashule, must face the full might of the law.
This, after a warrant of arrest in connection with the controversial asbestos deal was issued for Magashule by the Hawks on Tuesday.
The DA's Free State MPL Leona Kleynhans says Magashule has acted with impunity throughout his term in office, and they are pleased that he will now face justice. Kleynhans says the party has for years raised concerns over Magashule's involvement in this R255 million tender; and other multimillion rand projects including the infamous Vrede Dairy Project where over R220 million was earmarked to assist upcoming farmers was looted.
Kleynhans says they are hopeful that the plundering of state coffers by Magashule will now be brought to an end.
Cope's national spokesperson, Dennis Bloem, in a statement added that they are pleased the "untouchable dictator of the Free State province is facing the might of the law".
The party highlights that the warrant of arrest by the Hawks is proof that Cope's President Mosiuoa Lekota has been right all along about Magashule's corrupt activities and has vindicated him for what he pointed out to the ANC as far back as in 1994.
Magashule has been given an opportunity to voluntarily present himself to the authorities and is expected to make his first appearance in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Friday.
