Ace allies rally behind him for #AsbestosGate | News Article

A multitude of ANC members who hail from all provinces and are staunch allies of ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule, will be amongst those in court to support him in Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Friday.

A close official within the ANC Free State tells OFM News that multiplesupporters from KwaZulu-Natal and North Westhave been touted to come and support Magashule, where some will be brought by bus to the Free State capital.

Magashule is a close ally of former President Jacob Zuma, who still enjoys overwhelming support in that province, and also a close ally to former North West premier Supra Mahumapelo who also still commands a great following.

An official within the ANC tells OFM News the Free State Provincial Executive Committee entered into a prolonged debate ,and there was a question on why was former Mangaung Metro Municipality Mayor, Olly Mlamleli, also charged regarding the asbestos deal, not given the same support.  The source adds this was resolved and it was agreed ANC supporters should attend the court proceedings in support of Magashule.

Meanwhile, the former Dr Kenneth Kaunda District ANC regional secretary, Lopang Rothman, in North West confirms to OFM News that he will be one of those in court to support Magashule. Amongst those who pledged their support for Magashule includes the ANC national spokesperson, Pule Mabe, who said he will travelling to Bloemfontein to lend support.

In October, ANC member Malefu Mofokeng told OFM News that state resources are being used to wage psychological warfare against people perceived to be close allies of Magashule. She said people are trying, by all means, to nab the former Free State premier and current ANC SG.

Mofekeng added that many allegations have been made against Magashule but to date, no-one has come forward with a shred of evidence to prove their claims. Magashule had earlier warned that people should not picket outside the court on his name following a warrant of arrest by Hawks.

Magashule is expected to hand himself over at the office of the serious corruption investigation in Absa building, corner of Charlotte Maxeke Street and Floreat Avenue at 10:00 on Friday where is expected to apply for bail at the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court. He is being charged for fraud and corruption stemming from his alleged failure to oversee the failed R255 million asbestos project amongst others.
