'No ANC protest' against #Magashule─── LUCKY NKUYANE 07:25 Fri, 13 Nov 2020
ANC members who have held a series of protests against ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule - linked to his alleged fraud and corruption - say they will not be protesting outside the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Friday.
One of the members, Monnapule Ntamo, who has been critical of Magashule and the Free State ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC), tells OFM News that a decision was taken during a meeting with some ANC members.
Ntamo says there will not be any gathering aimed at Magashule's arrest on Friday. On Wednesday, Ntamo marched with a large contingent of ANC members to the Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela’s office at OR Tambo House, and subsequently ended at the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court. This is where former Mangaung Metro Municipality's (MMM) Mayor, Olly Mlamleli, businessman Edwin Sodi and five others appeared in court on the R255 million asbestos case.
While protesting outside the Magistrate's Court on the day, Ntamo said people's money has been misused by people entrusted to run the government.
"Anybody who misuses the people's money must face the full might of the law and justice must take its course. What we are saying is that we are not going to allow people to use the ANC regalia to support corruption because ANC doesn't stand for corruption," he adds.
Meanwhile, Ntamo indicated to OFM News that they will head to the Bloemfontein Supreme Court to appeal the earlier High Court judgment. In 2018, Judge Fouché Jordaan dismissed Ntamo's and others' court bid to have the ANC Free State PEC nullified.
He added that the appeals court has accepted their court bid to appeal the 2018 Free State High Court’s decision where judge Jordaan said he did not believe Ntamo and others had a solid case against the PEC and believed that they made the court bid to score political points within their faction.
Recently, ANC members who marched to the ANC headquarters in Luthuli House in Johannesburg are reportedly demanding that Magashule immediately step aside from his position.
