North West premier, Job Mokgoro, is expected to hand over a report on the administration process enforced by the provincial government against the ailing Mamusa Local Municipality.

Mokgoro will issue this report after he and a team of officials met with councillors of the troubled local municipality.

During the meeting the acting Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Peter Thelele, is said to have painted a bleak financial picture of the municipality.

The municipal manager (MM), Gaborone Mothibi, also told Mokgoro and his team that despite interventions by the provincial government, the municipality is still facing the same issues that led to its disbandment.

Mokgoro is crisscrossing municipalities in the province to take note of the issues which affect them. Thelele says it is tough to allocate funds towards service delivery related activities when the municipality owes millions to debtors.

The Municipality elected a new council in January 2020, after the former council was disbanded through the invocation of Section 139 (1) (c) in October last year.

Mokgoro is expected to have a follow up meeting with councillors and the management to hand over the report and map a way forward.

He has appealed to councillors and workers at the Local Municipality to never allow service delivery interruptions to exist.

Labour unions complained about a lack of protective clothing, lack of tools of the trade, non-appointment of senior managers and the unavailability of pension funds for retiring workers.

Meanwhile, Mokgoro says community members requested that a forensic investigation be undertaken at the municipality, and complained about sewer spillages, refuse collection, a lack of housing and shortage of water among others.
