#ChildTragedies: Another child dies after N8 accident─── LUCKY NKUYANE 07:12 Mon, 16 Nov 2020
The death toll has risen to six following the N8 vehicle accident in the Free State, as one of three children transported to Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein passed away on Sunday.
The EMS spokesperson, Sipho Towa, confirms that the eight-year-old girl child who was airlifted to the hospital succumbed to her injuries. This now brings the number of children who died in this accident to three, after two were declared dead on the scene on Saturday evening.
OFM News earlier reported a light delivery motor vehicle and sedan collided head-on, on the N8 about 27km from Bloemfontein to Botshabelo.
Nine injured patients are still receiving medical treatment after being transported to Mediclinic Bloemfontein and Pelonomi hospitals respectively. Amongst those injured are at least seven adults who suffered minor to moderate injuries.
This is at least the third accident in about three weeks where the lives of children have been lost in the province.
