Bloemfontein's own Superman─── 16:20 Wed, 18 Nov 2020
The festive season is a time of joy, celebration and creating memories with your loved ones. The same cannot be said for young patients in children hospitals.
Thousands of children are admitted to hospitals in South Africa annually, where many of them spend the festive season in a hospital room.
Jordan Nadasen, a third-year medical student at the University of the Free State, dresses up as Superman and visits children during December in hospitals to cheer them up with gifts.
What started as an idea in his hometown of Durban is becoming a permanent project, according to Nadasen. This year he wants to take his project to kids in Bloemfontein hospitals.
Jordan tells OFM that he has a love for people and likes helping them.
His passion for helping others started when he shadowed a surgeon in high school and realised that helping those in need is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
Jordan says the reason he dresses up as Superman is because it represents hope and heroism.
