NC man imprisoned for sexual assault─── 15:41 Mon, 23 Nov 2020
The accused sexual offender Simon Ndwalaza (34) was found guilty and was handed down a four-year prison sentence on charges of sexual assault in the Galeshewe Regional Court in the Northern Cape.
This follows an incident late last year where Ndwalaza sexually assaulted a 49-year-old woman, says police spokesperson Dimakatso Mooi. The incident took place at Kagisho in Kimberley. Ndwalaza broke into the victim's shanty, grabbed her and tried to rape her. The victim managed to get away and reported the matter to the police. Ndwalaza was found at another nearby shanty and was arrested. He was found in possession of a self-made panga, a condom and dagga.
The accused was handed down a sentence of six months' imprisonment for trespassing, six months' imprisonment for common assault, six months' imprisonment for possession of a dangerous weapon, and four years for sexual assault during his court appearance on Friday 20 November.
