Health MEC Madoda Sambatha announced a total of 14 new cases were identified in the last 24 hours, while eight more Covid-19 related deaths were recorded. This takes the number of deaths in the province to 549. As the country nears the festive season, with many expected to spend more time with family and visit relatives, Sambatha has made a clear call to community members to refrain from behaviour that will put them at risk of contracting the virus and spreading it.

Sambatha has further conveyed the government's condolences to the family and friends of those who have lost their lives due to the virus and expressed gratitude to frontline health workers, stating that it is through their efforts that the province continues to intensify measures against the spread of the virus.

The Bojanala District and Kenneth Kaunda District remain epicentres, with most new cases still recorded in the two regions.
