State witness wraps up #Siemens testimony─── LUCKY NKUYANE 16:24 Wed, 25 Nov 2020
The State's key witness and self-confessed killer of the former CityMed Managing Director (MD), Louis Siemens, has concluded his damning testimony against first accused Stanley Bakili and others at the Bloemfontein High Court on Wednesday.
The convicted murderer, Xolisile Botha Mbebeto, who was a key state witness, gave a fiery testimony during his three days on the stand.
He told the court how Bakili, the alleged mastermind behind the hit, offered him R200 000 to assassinate Siemens.
The MD was gunned down in broad daylight in the basement parking area of Preller Square in Bloemfontein in 2018.
He also told the court at length how Bakili dodged him and reportedly refused to pay him after the assassination.
During his testimony, Mbebeto incriminated Bakili, accused number 4 Mojalefa Jali Molusi, and accused number 6 Clive Tshivenga, who were also seen at the Windmill Casino a day before the murder.
Judge Pitso Molitsoane adjourned the matter to Thursday for the defence attorneys of the eight men implicated in Siemens' murder to prepare for the witness' cross-examination.
Eight men, including Bakili, Molebatsi Mogoera, Kagiso Chabane, Molusi, Moeketsi Lesia, Tshivenga, Karabo Tau and Sizwe Mpati are in the dock for the Siemens’ murder.
They include three police officers, a disbarred advocate, an accused in a separate double murder case, and an SANDF member.
