The briefing, set to be led by Rector and Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Francis Petersen, will be held virtually from 10:00 on Thursday. It comes just days after some workers at the Bloemfontein main campus staged a protest against outsourcing of workers.

OFM News earlier reported that members of the Workers and Students Forum (WFS) at the University picketed outside the main gate on Tuesday, to raise concerns regarding outsourced workers. One of the members, Sonwabile Ndwaba, said current outsourced workers had previously engaged with the university and reached an agreement that they will be insourced by January 2021.

Ndwaba said they have continuously pleaded with the management for their rapid response to their grievances, but allege they have failed to get an answer despite some workers' contracts coming to an end at the end of this year.
