Flanders Investment & Trade from the Embassy of Belgium in South Africa wants to attract local businesses to set up their operations in Europe.

The Commissioner of Flanders, Luc Fabry, tells OFM News he wants to alert the country of the many business opportunities in Europe. Fabry speaks about the ailing currency of South Africa which he claims have failed after 1994. Opportunities in logistics, the mining sector, agriculture as well as tax advantages in Europe were discussed during a seminar this week.

‘’We organised a seminar in logistics distribution in Europe. The main objective was to show people in South Africa that there are many business opportunities in the European market. The EU has a special trade agreement called the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). This partnership has been put up for the last 10 to 15 years.’’

Fabry believes South Africa has a lot of potential and hopes that African countries not only trade amongst themselves but also reap the fruits of the European market.

He concluded saying businesses that are interested in starting up in the market can look up www.flanderinvestmentandtrade.com and they can be assisted in whichever phase they are struggling to manoeuvre.
