The North West coronavirus (Covid-19) recovery rate has increased to 95.8% in the last 24-hour cycle with only 30 new cases detected across the province.

The province has 908 active cases after 33,315 COVID-19 patients recovered from 34,772 accumulated cases since the outbreak of the virus in the province - which thus far killed 549 patients.

The provincial Health Department says 131 patients have been hospitalised and 4 of them are in the ICU, 25 are on oxygen, 9 at High Care and 4 are on ventilators.

So far the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District - which includes the Matlosana Local Municipality in Klerksdorp - has recorded the highest number of deaths, with 244.

Meanwhile, the Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize, Friday night announced that 3 370 new cases were recorded within the last 24-hour cycle, bringing the total number of the virus in the country to 781 941.

Mkhize also announced that the total number of deaths stand at 21 378 and the total number of recoveries is 722 876.

"It has become important to discuss digital transformation in health. The continuity of care is ensured through reliable electronic patient records," Mkhize adds. This, amidst the fear of a second wave of the virus.
