Severe damage to properties in several villages in and around ward 24 in that area have been reported at places such as Uitkyk, Goedgevonden and a few neighbouring villages on Friday.

This prompted a reaction from the North West premier, Job Mokgoro, committing government's intervention through relevant departments, as well as the Ngaka Modiri Molema and the Mahikeng Local Municipality.

No details have been reported on the extent of damages reported from these areas. "More information on the intervention will be provided in due course," Mokgoro further added.

He says these institutions will provide urgent forms of social relief to affected households.

Mokgoro adds that he will be engaging with various departments and the two municipalities to ensure that the provision of social relief is provided as soon as it is possible.
