NC Legislature CFO suspended─── 07:40 Tue, 01 Dec 2020
A senior official at the Northern Cape Legislature has been on precautionary suspension for eight months, pending an investigation.
Spokesperson for the Legislature, Carmen Gopane, says Garth Botha was suspended in March following several allegations of violating the Legislature disciplinary policy.
The internal investigations has been concluded and the disciplinary hearing has already commenced.
Botha appeared in the Galeshewe Northern Cape Regional court on Friday, and according to the National Prosecuting Authority’s Mojalefa Senokoatsane he was released on warning. The hearing will continue on 10 and 11 December 2020.
The delay in resolving the case is partly as a result of the impact of the national lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Delays were also related to the Covid-19 positive cases of officials handling the disciplinary matter. For the period, no acting CFO was appointed.
