Case against drunk NW cop postponed─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 09:48 Tue, 01 Dec 2020
The case against a North West police officer who was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on-duty will be heard in the Wolmaransstad Magistrate's Court next year on January 25.
This, after his case was postponed on Monday to enable him to obtain legal representation following a brief appearance. OFM News previously reported that the constable was arrested after a video - depicting him drunk in full uniform struggling to stand steady on his feet to inspect a state vehicle and check what appears to be a scratch - circulated on social media.
According to police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, the video was captured by members of the community in Wolmaransstad on Saturday November 28 and went viral on social media platforms. Mokgwabone explained the constable was a driver at the time of the incident, where damage was caused when a state vehicle drove through a fence at Extension 10 in Tswelelang Location, at Wolmaransstad.
He highlighted that the police management condemned the unprofessional behaviour of an on-duty constable in the strongest terms.
