The alertness and vigilance of two police officers of the Kimberley K9 unit led to the confiscation of a large amount of dagga in the Northern Cape on Thursday.
Sergeant Kele Moima and Constable Lee Arends reacted on information regarding dagga allegedly being sold at a shack in the Kanana informal settlement in Lerato Park in Roodepan.
The members discovered 56,65kg of dagga inside the shack, packaged in black plastic bags. The street value is estimated at R85 000.
The 63-year-old male suspect was arrested and will soon appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate's Court on a charge of dealing in dagga.
The Frances Baard Vispol Co-ordinator, Brig Charlotte Makgari, applauded the members for their efforts in removing drugs from the streets. She also indicated that the police will vigorously tighten the grip this festive season.
