Police in the Northern Cape have sent a stern warning against any form of criminality in the province.
As the country nears the festive season, and an influx of travellers is expected on the roads, police in the province have appealed to residents to obey the law.
Spokesperson Mohale Ramatseba, has highlighted that Safer Festive Seasons Operations are underway and will be intensified. He confirms there will be a high police visibility and a number of roadblocks in the province in efforts to fight against crime.
He reiterated that there is a zero tolerance to crime and that they will also not hesitate to arrest those who do not adhere to Covid-19 regulations.
Ramatseba in a statement added that their roadblocks across the province are not only aimed at ensuring road safety, but to ensure that no stolen goods are transported, to ensure adherence to Road Traffic Act regulations, as well as compliance in terms of the Disaster Management Act regulations
His statement comes just days after President Cyril Ramaphosa has placed tighter restrictions to curb the spread of the coronavirus this festive, including restrictions on the sale of alcohol and a curfew.
