Trio bust during Cele FS raid─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 09:49 Mon, 21 Dec 2020
Three suspects caught with drugs worth millions of rands in Bloemfontein - during the police raid with Minister Bheki Cele - are expected to appear in the local Magistrate's Court on Monday.
A 40-year-old man, his 27-year-old girlfriend and another 38-year-old man were arrested and are facing charges related to dealing in drugs.
The arrests were made on Saturday following, the police's Safer Festive Seasons Operations, where Cele was present. Police Spokesperson Thandi Mbambo told OFM News the trio were arrested after the police spotted a luxury vehicle on the corner of Hanger and St George streets where they pulled off the vehicle and asked for permission from the owner to search the car. Inside the vehicle pieces of Chrystal Methane were found leading officers to believe more drugs could be found at the driver's residential place.
Mbambo says the police then asked the suspect to lead them to his home where they found more drugs.
"On arrival at a flat in Raymond Mhlaba street, the lessee allowed members to search the house and inside the closet, the police found drugs in various plastic wrappings stashed away. CAT weighing at 1. \9 kilograms, chrystal methane, rock, cocaine and "Thai White" drugs with an estimated street value of R1 000 000 rand were found and confiscated".
The trio was then arrested and charged with dealing in drugs.
Cele has meanwhile applauded the officers and sent a stern warning against any form of crime.
